Dog-Friendly San Diego

Thursday, January 19 2012

With San Diego’s sunny, perfect climate, beautiful natural environment, and unique neighborhoods, it’s no surprise that this is a dog lovers paradise. Mountains, beaches, the desert, and numerous dog parks beckon dog owners and their pooches out to enjoy all that San Diego has to offer.

The neighborhoods I specialize in: North Park, South Park, Golden Hill, Normal Heights, Hillcrest, and others are particularly popular with pet owners. Here are a few dog-friendly things to do with your favorite pooch:

Dog-Friendly Restaurants and Cafés

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed at the outdoor dining areas of the following restaurants and cafés. As policies allowing dogs may change, please call the restaurant to confirm they are still pet-friendly.

  • New Leaf Restaurant – Hilton Gaslamp Quarter
  • Acqua – Hilton San Diego Resort
  • City Delicatessen
  • Parkhouse Eatery
  • Doggie Café at the San Diego Humane Society & SPCA – Outdoor café open to dogs and people every day of the week from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Space is limited and – reservations are required

    • Morley Field northwest of tennis courts.
  • Grape Street Park
Located at Grape Street and 28th Street this site is unfenced and is available for off leash use during the following designated days and times:Posted Leash Free Hours:

I love taking my two bulldogs to our local parks and eateries, and in San Diego, we can do this year ’round! Please contact me at 619.368.9373 for more information about how you, too, can live the active San Diego lifestyle (dogs definitely allowed!)

  1. Check out Bull’s Barbeque on West Morena. They are super dog friendly: upon arrival they bring out a bowl of water and a beef bone for your pooch!
